Syracuse, N.Y. — The North Country and Western New York were hit hard with bands of lake effect snow this holiday weekend, with one town getting 45 inches.
Several counties have seen more than 30 inches of snow.
The top in Upstate New York? Barnes Corners in Lewis County received 45 Inches of snow.
More snow is expected to fall on Sunday, according to the National weather Service.
Watertown, for example, is forecast to get another two to three feet of snow tonight and Sunday. The same amount is forecast for just south of Buffalo.
Orchard Park, where the Buffalo Bills play Sunday night, is expected to get 1 to 2 feet of snow before the game kicks off at 8:20 a.m.
States of emergency were issued in several counties. The state Thruway was shut down in some areas in Western New York, but has reopened as of Saturday afternoon, according to the state Thruway Authority.
There is still currently a ban of all commercial vehicles on I-90 in both directions from exit 46 (Rochester – Corning – I-390) to the Pennsylvania state line.
